MUN Car Wash

In addition to the beachcliff tavern fundraiser, we will be having a car wash at Einsteins Bagels on Saturday, August 29th from 9-3. We have to pay $20 to cover the water bill and bring our own hose since someone ran over theirs. In addition to that we need to bring towels, soap, and signs. We're splitting the day up into two shifts, one from 9-12 and another from 12-3. Though we'd like to have people stay for both shifts, we're asking that each member sign up for at least one shift and contribute by bringing towels, soap, signs, and any other car-wash relevant items. Everything they bring and sign up for will earn them more points.

Trip Info

As most of you know, every year we go on a trip. This trip is to an out of state conference, usually somewhere where we can have a lot of non-MUN related fun even though the conference itself is always a blast. In the past, we have gone to Yale, Georgetown (that's in D.C. for those of you who don't know) and Chicago, among others.

We have not, as of yet, decided where we will go this year. Suggestions include:

1. Chicago

2. Princeton

3. Boston

4. New York

5. Duke

If you would like to comment on these coices or suggest others, please go to the topic on the discussion board on the facebook group page. If you have not yet joined the group, please do so.

There has been some discussion, and it is very likely that the trip size will be limited this year.
DO NOT BE ALARMED. As long as you participate to the best of your ability, you will most likely be able to go on the trip. REMEMBER: the trip is a REWARD, not a guarentee.

IMPORTANT: Our first fundraiser for the trip is coming up. Begin taking names of people who would like tickets. Tickets will be distributed at a later date, of which you will be notified. We need everyone's full participation in order to work. This will also be a great way to get some points to get a leg up on the competition.

The Point System

The officers and Mrs. D have been collaborating and are considering adding a point system to keep track of participation. Points will be awarded based on attendance to meetings, meeting deadlines, participation in fundraisers, etc. This will make sure that those students who are going on the trip later in the year have participated to a satisfactory level.

DON'T PANIC. The point system will be designed so that if you can't make everything (beacuase we know people have other commitments) you should still be ok. Our goal is to have everybody who wants to go to be able to go. The purpose of the system is to weed out those who do not participate regularly out of pure laziness. The only way you can get banned from the trip is if you don't do anything and don't care.

Also, THE POINT SYSTEM BANS PEOPLE FROM THE TRIP, NOT THE CLUB. We don't want to become some sort of elitist, heavily demanding club that forces you to go to its events. We simply ask that you participate as much as you can. The trip is meant to reward you for this.

Remember, the trip is a REWARD, not a guarentee.

If you have any questions, please discuss them in the thread I will create on the facebook group page.
